Greetings Tunza eco generation family, This is my first free report as the 26th regional ambassador. Here, I am gonna discuss about the pride of my state as well as my country which is the world heritage site,"Kaziranga National Park". Introduction :- Covering an approximate area of 430 square kilometers, Kaziranga was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its unique natural environment in the year 1985. It is located in the districts of Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Nagaon in the North-eastern part of India i.e., Assam. Kaziranga is the place where we can find nature wrapped in its most divine form with wildlife roaming fearlessly, the breathtaking array of flora and diverse fauna along with the human settlements nearby. It is the home to two-third of world’s population of endangered Indian one-horned rhinoceros, and also declared as a tiger reserve in 2006. It is also a home to various species of migrating and inhabitant birds. The park offers a splendid scenic view, surrounded by the river Brahmaputra on the North and the Karbi Anglong mounts in the South. It is the only ancient park in Assam which encloses a vast region of numerous flora and fauna. Problems faced by the National Park:- *Kaziranga National Park has been granted maximum protection and various laws have been enacted for protection of wildlife in the park. However poaching activities, particularly of the rhinoceroses for its horn, has been a major concern for the authorities. Due to the increased demands and high price rate of rhino horns in illegal markets, poaching has increased alot in the recent years. * Perennial flooding and heavy rains are the major problems in the state which have resulted in death of wild animals and damage to the conservation infrastructures. Many animals are seen migrating to elevated regions outside the park boundaries to escape the water logged situation, where they are susceptible to hunting, hit by speeding vehicles, etc. *Water pollution emerges due to the pesticides run-off from tea gardens, and run-off from a petroleum refinery at Numaligarh, which poses a hazard to the ecology of the region. * Invasive species like Mimosa and wild rose have posed a great threat to the native plants in the region. The species have a poisonous amino acid (Mimosin) which are harmful for the herbivores. Even forest fires can't prevent the weeds from growing. * Due to its propinquity to human settlements, Kaziranga faces many problems of illegal fishing, illegal livestock grazing, highway traffic, etc. Some resorts are being developed in the sensitive zones which can disturb the animals as well as expose them to the risk of poachers. As Kaziranga is a treasure to the people of Assam, we should come together to solve these issues. Awareness should be raised so that everyone can offer their help towards protection and conservation of this asset of ours and our country.

Hello mentor Debbie,
Kaziranga is a tourist spot and many people from the world come here to watch the scenic beauty and the wildlife. It is not closed to public and maybe that's why it becomes a problem sometimes regarding illegal activities. The government has indeed taken up steps for its protection but it depends on us to follow them and start protecting them ourselves too. Hope you will visit here someday :))

It??s great to hear about the Kaziranga National Park. National Parks are usually full of great nature we shall appreciate. It seems like Kaziranga is one of those too. The pictures look beautiful. I wish I could walk around and enjoy the sunshine and the nature. Except I??m not sure if it??s possible, since the wildlife are in danger, I??m guessing it could be closed for public..?
Anyways, isn??t it sad that lots of environmental issues are threatening our ecosystem? We really need to solve these issues to provide the future generations with a better world to live in.

Congrats on joining this platform and thanks for giving us a chance to read this well written first report! I especially loved the pictures. Are those pictures taken by yourself? It looks so peaceful and makes me want to lie down on the land.
Nice point on writing about the problems the national park is facing. Water pollution, endangered species, illegal fishing, grazing and so on. These problems should concern many people who really care for Kaziranga, which would be the start of a movement to resolve them.

Kaziranga National Park is a treasure, it is indeed true that even if the animals are kept in a national park, they are still in danger due to illegal or natural activities. Project such as Project Tiger and Project Rhinoceros have been introduced in India with regards to protect animals for being endangered. Such government plans have greatly helped Indian ecology but citizens should also support our ecosystem.
