'BUSINESS AND ENVIRONMENT'

by Pragati Dubey | 28-03-2021 00:26 recommendations 0

India stands second in terms of population in the world and being a developing country it undergoes with the industries development, which leads to the establishment of various types of industries or organizations not only in cities but also in small villages. We all aware of the fact that the industries are direct or indirectly depends upon nature for its raw materials requirements which leads to the exploitation of the natural resources. The waste discharge from the industries is dumped up or drained out into the water bodies and pollute them. It is very important for industries to treat their waste and follow environmental laws properly before dumping or discharging it into water bodies or into land fills. As the times changes the need of sustainability is increasing, the need of modern technologies or initiatives is increasing to protect the environment. As the the theme of our monthly report is 'Business And Environment'. I am writing this report to throw light on some of the startups in my region (India), who are using the concepts of sustainability in their business and protecting the environment also. Here I am just mentioning about the initiatives which these new startups in India have used to do business as well to protect the environment and I am not promoting any business in this regard. There are many startups in India which use sustainability as a tool to start their business and some of them are as follows:
1. PHOOL.IN - PHool.in has used the waste garlands and flowers used in temples, for worshipping and other religional purposes in the city of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh to make organic Holi colors, watercolors and various natural and organic products. The startup also provides employment to lot of women from villages and also protect the Holy Ganga river from pollution caused by degradation of flowers.
2. INNOVATIVE EWE SOLUTIONS- It creates and promotes natural tableware from plant leaves like palm leaves.
3. JUST GREEN LEAF- It creates eco-friendly jute bags from vegetable fiber with customized prints patterns and styles.
4. SRI LAKSHMI POLYPACK- It provides biodegradable paper cups that are designed to hold various types of beverages.

With the examples of these examples one thing is clear that only treating the waste from industries before it's dumping will not our future problem of pollution and Climate change. We need more initiatives like these startups and with the help of sustainability a better future businesses can be established so that environment can be protected.

    Hi Pragati,
    this is your mentor Yuseon:D

It is a quite sad reality that countries with high population most struggle to preserve the environment. This could be a fact showing that it is our human's selfishness that most harms it.
Nevertheless, it was informative that you chose 'start up' companies that participates in environmental business. Actually, having eco-friendly managing was supposed to be a privilege only the corporate giants could enjoy. It was good to know that small scale businesses could also do such things if they wanted to.

Thanks for sharing this cool bit of information!
    Keep up the good work,
    Yuseon

    Hi Pragati,

This is your mentor Debbie :)

Thanks for sharing about a couple of startups in India promoting environmental protection. It??s good to hear that even startups, not huge, global-scale businesses are willing to take part in environmental action. Large businesses should learn from them and realize that we need to all work together as a team.

Out of the four businesses you??ve introduced, Sri Lakshmi Polypack caught my eyes. Papercups do use a lot of resources in production - and if this is made of biodegradable material, it would be good for the environment as well as us human.

Thanks for sharing with us! Looking forward to more in April and following months! :)

    Green Cheers,
    Debbie
