Loss of Biodiversity in India:
Being a developing country, India due to industrialization and population explosion is facing the loss of it's biodiversity which is one of the major environmental issues. India is highly biodiverse country. It has over 45000 species of plants in only 2.4% of world's total land. It is very sad that more than 12% species of wild mammals are threatened with extinction in the nation. About 3% of birds' species are facing extinction and their number are increasing every year. There are various causes for biodiversity loss in India, some are mentioned below which are extremely effecting the biodiversity of India: 1. Escalating Human Population. 2. Habitat Destruction (Deforestation) and Fragmentation- Generally, Habitat Fragmentation is a process in which large continuous ares is reduced and divided into small fragments. 3. Overuse of Natural Resources. 4. Climate Change. 5. Natural Calamities. 6. Industrialization. 7. Pollution. 8. Illegal Wildlife Trade. Some of the species that went extinct in 2019 in world are given below. How sad is this that our future generations will not be able to see them? 1. Sumatran Rhino 2. Chinese paddlefish 3. Yangtze giant softshell turtle 4. Indian Cheetah 5. Spix Macaw 6. Catarina Pupfish 7. Indochinese tiger People and government should both focus on the conservation of our precious biodiversity of India. Strict laws should be made for industries those who pollute the environment through their wastes. We should take concrete steps to save biodiversity as biodiversity underpins the health of the planet and has a direct impact on all our lives moreover it also maintains or balance the food chain. Biodiversity also helps in checking the pests and diseases of agricultural produce and crops. As I am the regional Ambassador from India my report focuses on India only but we all know that each and every nation is facing the loss of its biodiversity. It's really worrying for humans. |

A reduction in biodiversity is a serious problem across the world - it causes a destructive change in the ecosystem. I searched up for some photos of the species you??ve mentioned that went extinct. It??s so sad we can??t see these creatures anymore! Especially the Indochinese tiger that looks so big and brave..!
Next time, perhaps you could develop further about the causes for the loss in biodiversity instead of just listing them! It would help the readers understand better. :D

Thanks for your report on the loss of biodiversity in India. I didn't know that India is a highly biodiverse country with over 45000 species of plants. It is very sad that more than 12% species of wild mammals are threatened with extinction in the nation. As you have mentioned it seems that it doesn't have just one cause to this result. That is also why it might be hard to stop this situation progressing.
Thanks for bringing awareness to this topic. Hope that the conservation of biodivesity in India goes well:)
