Integrated Pest Management is a method of protecting crop enemies (diseases, insects, weeds, birds, rats, etc.) from economically equitable, environmentally sustainable and socially acceptable crops. It uses more than one integrated management method to reduce the use of chemical pesticides.

Methods of integrated crop pest management

 

1. Use of insect repellent species, use of insect repellent.

2. Methods based on agriculture Karma crop rotation, manipulation of sowing or sowing time, field cleaning, proper mining, destruction of residues after harvesting.

3 Physical and mechanical methods of hand picking, obstruction, trapping, grain drying etc.

4. Biological use of parasites and predatory insects as well as various bacteria such as bacteria (VT), 5. Use of attractive chemicals. Use of various attractive chemicals such as methyl eugenol, Culiar and various pheromones such as heliurur, spordorulur etc.

Some of the IPMs adopted by farmers in Nepal, Technologies

- Neem, Timur, Bojo, Bitter, Zwanu, Mustard oil are used to control pests and diseases in grain storage.

- Insect control of vegetable crops using wood dust, wheat, soapy water, tobacco solution.

- An ounce of orange variety of fruits and vegetables, pheromone trap for pest control, field cleaning.

- Use of Jholmal(liquid manure), cow's urine, mohi(whey) etc. prepared from local plants.

- Use of various traps to some extent.

- Use of some amount of fungal, bacterial, viral and nematode biological pesticides.

- Conservation of friendly organisms.
