Green vehicles

The thematic topic for the month of June was "Green Vehicles." I was really fascinated by this topic and was thinking of writing it down as soon as I have time. Though, it has been already late, but I can't dare to miss it. I must say here in this platform, a lot of people from different nations with different experiences and civilization are engaged. If we look back, our histories are very different. We have moved alot. There has been modernization in every aspects so is in transportation sector.

I believe how far we have developed, we should forget our history. Taking this opportunity, I am going to share about green vehicle that had been in used in historical time in Nepal. It doesn't mean they are not in use now. They are also in use at the present but are very rarely seen especially in our region. It's about, Bullock cart. It may be new for many of the readers. In South Asian countries like Nepal and India, they were very common mean of transportation in the ancient time. It doesn't require any fuels. It can carries tons of loads and transport. It facilitates in a smooth road and also in hilly region and gravel road.

What kind of transportation is it, then?
Actually, by name it's clear that a Bullock cart is a vehicle that is pulled by oxen. It's also called as ox cart. It's basically two wheeled or four wheeled vehicle. It was used as a mean of transportation in many parts of the world in the ancient times. It can be operated by a single person. It can carry heavy loads along with numbers of human. It doesn't require a complex infrastructure to design. It's very simple and cheap for construction. It generates no smoke neither it requires any fuel. It's very eco friendly means of transportation in comparison to modern days vehicles. However, it's speed is quite slow and has been dominated by modern means of transportation for several other reasons. Animal welfare is also a matter of concern since ox are being used heavily for immense loads.

Nowadays, it's regarded as a fascination. Actually, it's because lots of movies especially South Asian movies feature these Bullock cart in their movie.

PS: please, accept my sincere apologies for not updating earlier

    Hi Asmita,

    This is your mentor Yuseon:D

When selecting the topic of 'Green Vehicles', I didn't think of traditional transportation,
but you're absolutely right! I don't know about speed and efficiency, but they are
    most definitely 'green'.

    Keep up the good work!

    Dear Asmita,

This is your mentor Debbie. :)
I feel like the most important drawback in using these Bullock carts is animal welfare. With this issue becoming more significant in the modern world, we don't dare to have animals helping us pull the carts.. It might be regarded as a sin even! :S

    Best,
    Debbie
