A sweet home for pigeon

Do you love birds?
I believe everyone loves bird. What comes into your mind when you hear the word pigeon?

Of course, a bird. Everything knows. Pigeons are regarded as the messenger birds because it is believed that the letters from the beloved ones were transported from one place to another with the help of pigeon. These were some of the beliefs of people regarding pigeon. Pigeon are also rared as a domestic birds. Some prepare a wooden pigeon nest. While in some communities a special nest is prepared for them. Yes, in the Nepalese Tharu Community, a home for pigeon is made up of mud. It looks like a small home with small windows and doors. Those holes that are more or less square in shape can be closed or opened manually by using woods or mud cakes itself. In the photo also, you can see a woman demonstrating it. When pigeon gets into their mud home in the night, these holes are closed for their safety. In the morning, the holes are made opened for the release of these pigeons, isn't it amazing? These nests have proper environment for pigeons. This nest is also eco-friendly since it is made up of locally available mud by local people.

Basically, Tharu Community people have a culture of preparing such kind of home for pigeon in Nepal. I have also encountered this pigeon home during my visit in rural municipality of Nepal during the small village smart project. This is a beautiful and new learning and sights for me.

Have you ever seen these kinds of home of pigeon? If you also have pigeon nest of this kind of of different kind, don't forget to share.

    Hi Asmita,

    This is your mentor Yuseon:D

Pigeons are actually now that loved in our country.
They usually live on bits and crums that people carelessly leave behind.
It is interesting how you got to get to get friendly with pigeons to decide to
give them a home made by yourself.

Thanks for sharing this culture(?) of your nation!
    It is good to know:)

    Dear Asmita,

This is your mentor Debbie. :)
It's interesting how people prepare homes for pigeons in the Nepalese Tharu community. Here in Korea, pigeons are not really welcome... One there are so many of them, two they are unhygienic. At least that's how they are here. It's interesting to see the cultural difference ! :D Thanks for your report.

    Green Cheers,
    Debbie
