(Free Topic) Eco-tourism what is it and what does it go with?

by Shirin Shukhratova | 06-08-2021 19:46 recommendations 0

The use of the word "tourism" or "tour" with the prefix "eco" was invented in the 1970s. At that time, the word meant just about anything - an alternative, non-consumerist approach to travel, and simply tours with visits to nature. However, in 1990 an official international ecotourism community appeared, which identified two key components of ecotourism: not harming the environment and improving the well-being of residents (of course, not just at the expense of money). The latter, for example, includes assistance in the preservation of local culture, customs and traditions.
For eco-tourism pushes recreational need, the desire for privacy, the psychological need for moral rest, stress ... The list has its own, but tourists often respond to this question something like this: "Yes fed up with these cities. Concrete boxes are already fed up with their grayness. I want greenery, solitude and peace of mind. And I also want to see beauty, because I see nothing but TV and a sofa".
The main objective of ecotourism for the average man is to have a rest and, most importantly, to enjoy the rest, not causing harm to the environment. The idea of ecotourism is that you need to abandon the means of communication and the rest of the mundane world. Of course, the natural environment should remain as it was before your arrival. To take a tent, a sleeping bag and other amenities that will make your vacation comfortable, no one interferes.
Eco-tourism encourages tourists to follow the basic rules:
- During the trip, the tourist gets acquainted with the nature, culture, traditions and customs of local residents. At the same time the negative impact on the environment should be minimal - nature should be protected.
- Another important point is environmental education and enlightenment. Ecotourists not only admire the beauty of the surrounding world, but also learn a lot of new and interesting things about it.
- The means received from ecotourism, go on the preservation of the environment and support of local population. That is ecotourism - is a real way to stop being an outside observer and to make the own, let it be small, contribution to protection of the nature.
If you are close to this philosophy, then ecotourism - definitely your kind of recreation.

    Hi Shirin,

    This is your mentor Yuseon:D

Tourism industry definitely has a positive affect to the economy. There are many sites
all around the world that make their living through this, but its environmental impact is too much. It's becoming a real problem, and some regulations should be put to make the whole process more 'green'.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Dear Shirin,

This is your mentor Debbie. :)

When 'tourism' comes to mind, it is true that pollution does pop up. Different types, noise pollution, littering and so on. It is quite ironic this gets all crossed out when the prefix 'eco' is added. Tourism is not something that should be prevented, and eco-tourism should not be the other option.

    Best,
    Debbie
