Nepal's geographical location is very important in terms of environmental sensitivity. We also have high mountains as a natural resource. Which is most at risk of experiencing the effects of global warming. Our federal capital Kathmandu is like a bowl. The dust filled here cannot come out in a hurry. Only if we can keep Kathmandu, which is under great human pressure, as clean, free from pollution and healthy as possible, can we focus on other issues and reap more benefits. The transport sector needs to be improved to improve Nepal's air quality and help prevent climate change. At the same time, road dust and industry must move towards the use of alternative energy. In the budget speech, it has been said that a plan will be brought to replace the light petroleum vehicles with electric vehicles by 2078 BS. The future will show its implementation. Major cities of Nepal including Kathmandu are burdened with pollution. There is a dire situation of having to wait for wood to reduce pollution. The means of transportation are mainly responsible for the pollution here. Road dust and industry are other sources of pollution. According to a study by the Department of Environment in 2017, 28 percent of petroleum vehicles are responsible for air pollution in Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, the level of 2.5 PM particles has been found up to five times the standard of the World Health Organization. According to the Global Air Report 2019, 42,100 people died in Nepal that year due to air pollution. The State of Global Air report 2020 places Nepal among the top 10 countries with the highest outdoor PM2.5 levels in 2019.Recently, cities including Kathmandu have appeared in the list of 'Air Quality Index' as the most polluted cities in the world. This should prompt the government to come up with an effective plan to immediately replace diesel petrol vehicles with electric vehicles. Dear Bal,
This is your mentor Debbie. :)
Out of the points you mentioned, the fact that road dust and transport pollution takes a big part of climate change is striking to me. I think with road condition becoming more developed and transportation becoming more accessible, we almost forgot about how driving alone and not taking public transport can affect our Earth so much. Thank you for bringing us an inspiring article! :)
Green Cheers,
Debbie

Dear Bal,
This is your mentor Yuseon:D
Seems like you have looked closely into your country's local environmental issue. It was interesting that even we live in different geographies, things we need to do to keep our neighborhood cleaner is mostly the same.
Thank you for sharing your local issue (global issue to most of us)!
