What's up Lebanon? 2021½

Greetings from Lebanon, a home to millions, a home drowning in debts, corruption, poverty, pollution, and different socio-economic climatic crises. The pearl of the Middle East is crying for help, losing hope, innocent souls, and most importantly losing its youth while the decision makers are stealing, and turning Lebanon into a big mess. However, we cannot cry eternally, but we can change the harsh reality of living in Lebanon, even when it seems impossible. Let's approach the entire problem and look at the proposed solutions by various action takers. What are the problems Lebanese are currently facing? And the possible solutions? Today, Lebanese has no access to electricity for most hours of the day. Sadly, talking generally doesn't cover much, hospitals and businesses can't operate, food is not being stored enough in fridges. Many are the people who are in need of electronic technology to stay alive, cutting their access to electricity is cutting their lifeline. Due to the big lack of providing petrol for generator owners, those have to pause electricity for a few hours, sometimes days. What's happening in 2021 obviously is a result of the politicians' irresponsibility, however, they are not the only reason why. In fact, AFD elucidated the problem last year, said that Lebanon is poor in natural resources, and imported 99% of its energy, a sector which makes 45% of the public debt. Considering the fact that today 1$=20,000LBP, how are we supposed to pay it back? On the bright side, the AFD energy report showed that the solar energy market increases 95% more every 12 months. Thus, renewable energy is our only solution to the economic, social and environmental crises we're facing. Moreover, the demand of renewable energy experts is growing. Today, a Lebanese citizen is indirectly forbidden to get out of his home. As I'm seeing and hearing, one fuel tank is worth 275,000LBP, whereas the government supplies it by 200,000, hence, we pay 75,000LBP to fill our car. There simply is no more gaz to power our vehicles, currently gaz stations are causing endless traffic jams, everyday. Again, Lebanon relies on fuel imports, making transport problems. The solution? Well, as much as I know, Lebanon is not ready yet to rely on electric cars. It has been this way for decades, buy would this reality change despite the on-going corruption in Lebanon for 40years? Today, there is an extreme shortage of medicine in pharmacies and hospitals, which is usually imported as well. Today, people cannot access their money saved in banks, which has illegally seized the citizen's savings. Today and everyday, the Lebanese lira is losing its value, while prices are rising. Today, our fellow importer relies on close countries to provide us with agricultural food. Today, Lebanon is burning, not only in a figure sense but truly. Situated in the Noth of Lebanon, Kobbayat for example, has burned to ash, even a small countryside close to my mountain home, has witnessed a small amount of fires. Do these wildfires happen often? You guessed it, the wildfires mostly happen in hot weathers, here, the country has faced severe fires the past two years. The solution? REFORESTATION!! Today, Lebanon is again seeing the humans' traces everywhere, on every single road, our ugly garbage is sitting, waiting to be burnt. Yes, we're clearly close to the complete inability to manage waste. Ramco, a waste management industry, is working day and night to clear up the waste, but the government is the only one that's allowing this to happen. Let me tell you what lead to these indirectly environmental crises. Here, the people have chosen the same decision makers for the past 30years. The Lebanese system is very complex, due to the presence of 18 different religions in one country. Fast-forward into 17 October 2019, the day when almost a million Lebanese protested on the street. December 2019, the dollar now is worth 2,000 LBP. It's summer 2020, 1$=10,000LBP, the Lebanese currency was slowly losing its worth. August 4th 2020, a large blast of Nitrate Ammonium hit the port of Beirut, harming the country's trades and sadly killed hundreds. August 2021, no one is hold accountable for this crime, meanwhile prices are rising and the dollar becomes worth 20,000LBP. Writing this report, my intentions were to update you on the situation here, while I sincerely consider the severe situations in other countries that are facing problems. I enjoyed reading about the actual situation of Lebanon. I think this piece of work is a very honest and frank one. It seems like corruption is a serious issue in Lebanon.
