[Thematic Report] Our Eco-friendly Future |
---|
by Dalima Thapa | 16-08-2021 15:33 0 |
Sustainability has been relegated to limited or individual use thus far; there are no major cities powered primarily through sustainable energy sources. This will eventually change, and many of us are curious to see what path future ecocities will take. The shift will probably be a slow transition and may take many decades. It's likely there will be new and fantastic inventions by then, and everything else is speculation. Taking into consideration, the future of EVs, the electric vehicle (EV) revolution is speeding up, but it can only go so far without the necessary infrastructure and technology. As thinking shifts from fossil fuels to all-electric, visions of a brighter, more optimistic world come into view. Electric vehicles are not just the wave of the future, they are saving lives today. The largest source of climate pollution in the world is transportation. To solve the climate crisis, we need to make the vehicles on our roads as clean as possible. If the 2035 target is to be met, we will all see evolutions in the transport and mobility routines that keep our lives moving. From using ultra-fast wireless charging to supporting the developing world by repurposing car batteries. What does sustainability look like in practice? How does it actually work? What¡¯s different from the world we live in today? And, perhaps most importantly, what are the trade-offs? No matter how different we want the future to be, we can¡¯t simply ignore the way people actually live today. We cannot simply wish for a world we want. By advocating for renewable sources of energy, or using them in our home and buildings, we can accelerate the transition toward a clean energy future. Renewable energy systems are a very good option for environment cleaning and produce less emissions than conventional energy sources. Green building helps to make our environment clean and healthy. By using smart appliances, eco-friendly materials and sustainable building techniques, we are taking further steps towards saving our Earth¡¯s future.

Dear Dalima,
This is your mentor Debbie. :)
I agree EVs do provide us with a stronger basis to a cleaner future, but they do not guarantee us a green future! I think still there are a lot to be done about EVs, especially in the process of producing electricity to feed the electric vehicles. Any thoughts on this? ;)
Best,
Debbie

Dear Dalima,
This is your mentor Yuseon :D
Nice work on looking into sustainability and searching for real life examples.
Due to the effort of young Tunza ambassadors including yourself, we get acquainted with many global efforts towards sustainability within this online community alone.
Thank you for sharing your ideas with us.
