(Thematic) Asian Household as What The Future Can Be

Asian Household as What The Future Can Be

My household would collect take-away packaging, so there would be a lot of plastic containers stocked up. But this does not only happen in my household, where most Asian household does this. It is the same with collecting plastic bags to be reused later.

The reason why plastic containers or bags are collected is to not be wasteful. Even though in many cases they are only piling up, but they are occasionally reused such as giving food to the neighbors. But it got me thinking of what the future can be. Rather than thin plastic used as a take-away container, why not make a much more durable take-away container that can be recollected and reused. So that customers are encouraged to return their take-away container. But it has to also be ensured that the customers do not collect and pile up these containers at home as it would defeat the purpose of reusing the take-away containers. Tactics that have worked is giving a discount, or returning money to the customer when the containers are returned.

An eco-friendly future is about working out our lifestyle to not create waste that is harmful to the environment. Creating waste is something unavoidable, but it is just how we reuse it maximally and prevent it from leaking into the environment that would become harmful. We need to be more aware of our surroundings and how everything will in turn affect us.

    Dear Ida,

In some parts I agree with you but I think it's difficult to say that "creating waste is something unavoidable"! I mean, it's true but not true..? If you know what I mean, haha. Personally I think reusing and recycling maximally is important but from the first place trying to reduce the amount of waste is more important.

    Green Cheers,

I completely agree with your observation that household efforts is necessary to establish a green initiative. Recycling used plastic is definitely an example of household efforts.

Thank you for sharing your ideas and keep up the good work!
