This is your mentor Joon and I am writing this article to announce the Theme of the Month for October succeeding September¡¯s topic, ¡®Zero Waste¡¯. The keyword for the second month will be <Eco-Friendly Waste Management>.
Through the process of researching Zero Waste, all ambassadors would now be familiar about how waste is created and it is dealt with. Despite all the efforts to achieve Zero Waste by 5Rs -Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot- it is inevitable to face the production of unwanted byproducts. If so, shouldn¡¯t we have to find the way to manage it as Eco-Friendly as Possible?
Mission of this month for our ambassadors is to find, research, modify, and/or adapt the ways to manage trash exposed to environment. It might overlap with previous topic¡¯s 5R, as recycling, and reusing are major means of eco-friendly waste management, but I am sure there are more ways to come up with. One can discuss about their own ways, or research about effective methods that already being used in the field. Any suggestions to improve the already existing means can also be a great choice of topic. It is completely up to you on how to develop one¡¯s own article and what to deal with unless it fits the topic of <Eco-Friendly Waste Management>. If you cannot come up with the content, possible suggestion is to look up how trash is being managed in your county. There are different ways to process such as: incinerating, burying, decomposing and so on. There, one will find some inefficiencies or creation of pollution during the process. Pointing out such problems can be a great topic to write, and would be even better if one can come up with creative and immediately applicable ways for the process. Another possible suggestion is to actually experience the eco-friendly way of managing waste oneself. For instance, by using chemicals containing different micro-organisms, food waste can be turned into a fertilizer. There are certain conditions and steps such as dehydration, and maintained humidity in order to transform it as a proper fertilizer. One can research the most efficient way of doing so or even record the progress of it while making it oneself. Above are just simple suggestions so don¡¯t restrain yourself from taking different approaches. There were questions regarding the format, length, and relevance of the contents. The recommended amount is an article more than 3 paragraphs. However, regarding the format and topic, no matter how irrelevant it seems at the first sight, it is perfectly fine as long as it can be connected to the topic. So always feel free to take a step forward. You can refer to following links for brief information: https://www.unep.org/explore-topics/resource-efficiency/what-we-do/cities/solid-waste-management https://www.unep.org/resources/report/global-waste-management-outlook https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/index.php?page=view&nr=6&type=504&me But feel free to refer to other sources as above is just a suggestion of possible source. It was good to see articles with great efforts put on previous month, and hope to see them once again. Let¡¯s Keep Up! |
