Eco-Friendly Waste Management in Peru |
---|
by Maria Del Pilar Azan Quispe | 21-10-2021 23:12 0 |
Peru generates more than seven and a half million tons of solid waste per year, 64% of which comes from households. Over time, this rate has increased exponentially. In addition, it is estimated that by 2025 up to 36,000 tons of waste will be generated per day, making it necessary to propose immediate solutions. The Ministry of Culture stated that environmentally friendly waste management is a solution with great impact, but it will take time and patience to implement it in Peruvian society. For this reason, the ministry together with NGOs at the national level have begun to promote recycling as one of the pillars of the circular economy scheme that seeks to squeeze all human creativity to move from the current model of buy, use and dispose to find a second use for thousands of waste. In this effort to reuse resources, it is essential that citizens participate in generating less waste. Kjeld Nielsen, Director of Communications and Marketing of WWF Peru and professor at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences, stated that it is necessary to manage solid resources in a sustainable manner at the local level so that, in the future, garbage becomes a valuable input for the economy. But it is also essential that citizens reduce their level of waste production and recycle. Simple actions can make a decisive contribution to the planet! |

Hello Maria, this is your mentor Joon.
Cooperation between Social, Government, and corporates is crucial in order to make our goal possible. There's a terminology introduced to refer to this: "Collective Impact". Without Social Acceptance and participation, policy would become a failure. Without governmental promotion, it would be hard to implement to system as administrative issues are crucial depending the success of a Project. Without any investment of companies, we would not be able to find the optimal solution. Every single one of them are important, and therefore people should give more attentions to the talks they are currently related.
Well read your article.
Best,
Joon
