Air Pollution In Nigeria

Nigeria has the largest number of deaths due to air pollution in Africa, while the country ranks fourth across the globe.
Statistics indicated that in 2016, about 150 fatalities occurred per 100,000 people as a result of pollution in Nigeria.

The State of the Global Air Report that Health Effects Institute (HEI) published that Nigeria's air quality is amidst the most lethal worlwide.
Generator fumes, automobile emissions, and refuse burning are the main causes of air contamination in The Giant Of Africa.

Additionally, indoor air pollution in Nigeria is also a big problem, as the amount of soot levels in many households surpass air quality guidelines by 20 times.

In order to effectively handle the air pollution in Nigeria, it is important for the country to provide sustainable and environmentally-friendly policies necessary to tackle air pollution.
These include investment in Biogas, Solar energy, Organic farming, Etc.

    I never knew that Nigeria ranks the fourth to have largest deaths because of air pollution.

    Air pollution is a serious problem which can easily be overseen, but has serious impacts. Once people get used as such atmosphere, they tend not to care much about it. Yet, it is quite serious as it can reduce people's life expectancy by years. There should be public campaigns to raise awareness, and to have proper protection for it. The best method is either to remove the source of pollution or moving to another region. However, as it is hard to make such decisions, it is important to equip with proper protection. For instance, by wearing N95 masks, most of heavy metals, and dust problems can be resolved.
