Go Green with Books

by Sara Dauletyarova | 31-01-2022 23:58 recommendations 0

Having realized that I have never read a book related to the environment, I decided to make a list of books to read in near future. Here are 5 must-read environment books by experts:

The Ends of the World by Peter Brannen

Science journalist Peter Brannon gives a message about the planet¡¯s five mass extinctions and offers us a view of a dangerous future. An interesting story about all the past and future lives of our planet. Brannen talks about the major five extinctions that the Earth has experienced and the summary of the different modern and historic theories.

How to Give up Plastic by Will McCallum

There are given simple instructions on how to get rid of non-biodegradable plastics from our life and clean up the world¡¯s oceans. Green activist Will McCallum gives us a lesson on how to become conscious about disposable plastic and recycled and environmentally friendly alternatives.

The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells

In this book, we will get to know more about the impacts of climate change that will change our lives completely unless we do any action. Containing 200 hundred pages, the book shows the past, present future of life through global warming

The Death and Life of the Great Lakes by Dan Egan

In the 1800s, the Great Lakes have experienced catastrophic changes because of air pollution and invasive species. It¡¯s about considerable, unforeseen costs of actions in the natural world.

Losing Earth by Nathaniel Rich

This book explains that not only the core problem in the fight against climate change is people but also the politicians making the situation even more challenging.

Hello Sara, this is your mentor Joon.

Though there are things that could only be learnt working on the field, there are also knowledges that can only be gathered through reading papers, especially theoretical ones which is yet to be implemented. Books may provide intuitions and background knowledges which was accumulated by others and is a good way to put it into one's real life. Hope you can answer some questions in your mind my reading through listed books.

Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon
