ENVIRONMENTAL UPDATE ON GHANA - FREE REPORT Over the past years Ghana has made little progress in our fight for a batter tomorrow so far as saving and preserving the environment is concerned. This is a collective effort and the government has a bigger role to play in this. Atewa Forest is a reserve we (activists and enthusiasts) have fought so much over the years to preserve. We have fought the government severally to prevent them from destroying the rain forest. On April 26, 2022 the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources said to Aljazeera, that they are not necessarily going to compromise the integrity of Atewa Forest, but rather exploit it for the ultimate benefit of the Ghanaian people. (https://allafrica.com/stories/202204260613.html) This is a joke of the year. How do you preserve an integrity by destroying it? They want to exploit the forest for bauxite which would be used for aluminium production. Ghana deserves better, Ghana ought to be Greener and we will fight to make sure the forest is never exploited. Just yesterday April 29, 2022 I was going through a news portal and came across another disheartening development. The Vice President of the country cuts sod for the construction of a ¢æ1.8million rubber plantation project. Source: (https://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/business/Bawumia-cuts-sod-for-1-8million-rubber-plantation-project-1527179) We are jokers in this country Ghana. We have been fighting against the usage of rubber in the country because it is a major cause of pollution around the entire country and the world as a whole and the best the government can do is to invest in the plantation of rubber? May be I am wrong, but Ghana once again deserves better and we ought to keep this country Greener. The government had it very difficult to ban the use plastics only to make an investment in its production a few years later. This radical leaders of ours, need to think about the people, have the people at heart and think of the future before they make investments. Green Cheers from Ghana |

Hello Justice, this is your mentor Chelwoon.
It is highly commendable that many Ghanaian people have cooperated and continue to make an effort in changing the situation over the past years. I think this article is quite relevant to this month??s theme, biodiversity. Indiscriminate mining affects every single living creature that lives around the mining site. It will lead to the deterioration of biodiversity in the area.
I hope Ghanaian people will get better outcome for their efforts.
Thank you for the article!
Regards,
Chelwoon

Hello Justice, this is your mentor Joon.
It is always heartbreaking when the leaders which does not fully understand the physiology of the local situations make the decisions which might seem inadequate. That is why people should always give out their voices so that it could be reflected on policies. If people stay silent, there are no other ways to stop the action. Hope Ghana's government could make the best choice possible so that the country could go green as well as develop in the same time.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Best,
Joon
