I feel extremely elated to lead " Plant Health clinic" organized by Youth Endeavour for sustainable Agriculture. We have conducted 3 days program that includes field survey at first day, lab diagnosis and identification at 2nd day and plant health camp, seed distribution, recommendation and medicine distribution as per standard format at 3rd day on Kotahimai rural municipality of Nepal DAY 1: Field Survey at farmers field to know the status of disease and pest in the proposed site for "Plant Health clinic was done and as per our survey we found that In this season, there are vegetable growers in the fields and orchards of the farmers especially leguminaceae. Apart from these, crops of Malvaceae, Leguminaceae, Ambeliiferie, Lemiaceae, Liliaceae, Solanaceae, Anacardesaeae and Spindaceae families were also found in abundance. It was found that farmers used more local varieties than improved varieties. In some places , native seeds have seen to be disease resistance but it has been observed with less production. We observed that vegetables of cucurbitaceae and solanaceae family was highly effected by the leaf feeder and borer insects beyond the economic threshold level but still they have not used any insect trapper to control insect. Farmers have been using chemical insecticides and pesticides for insect control rather than any mechanical and biological method of insect control . cucumber and pumpkin was effected with powdery mildew in high quantity. we were heart break with the farmers loss in acers and ropani of chilly and onion production that has damaged by little leaf virus and mosaic virus. We recommended about the Integrated pest management technique, cultural practices and distributed micronutrients, neem based pesticides, lures, traps and seed of seasonal vegetable. It was the most wonderful experience to lead the campaign, work for the rural community and broaden my knowledge arena itself. I express my huge thankfulness to my team member to successfully accomplish this task, my gratitude goes to my advisor and senior scientists who helped us to identify the disease and accordingly give suggestion and recommendation. To sum up it was wonderful learning experiences. |

Hello Sandhya, this is your mentor Chelwoon.
Thank you for sharing your amazing work! We always talk about the importance of action, and you really put your ideals into action. Although I cannot say which movements or campaigns are better, it is certain that your consistent efforts to make changes are amazing. It is true that for various reasons, farmers have difficulties accessing eco-friendly pest management solutions. I think your work must have helped them a lot. Thank you for reminding us that our efforts can add up and change the world!
Thank you for the article!
Regards,
Chelwoon

Hi Sandhya, this is your mentor Joon.
It is always thrilling experience to run a campaign and make change with one's own strength. Hope this experience helps you deal with other actions to your future. Sharing your knowledge to local community seems so exemplary. As I have always mentioned, sharing awareness becomes useless unless someone actually takes something into action. Real change occurs when actions are made. On that perspective, you have done great work.
Well read your article, and hope you can keep up with your work.
Best,
Joon
