The Junin flightless grebe (Podiceps taczanowskii), Junin rail (Laterallus tuerosi), Lake Junin giant frog (Telmatobius macrostomus), white grebe (Podiceps occipitalis), common grebe (Rollandia rolland), barcino duck (Anas flavirostris), corn duck (Anas georgica), puna duck (Anas puna), great diving duck (Oxyura jamaicensis), huallata (Chloephaga melanoptera), Andean coot (Fulica ardesiaca), moorhen (Gallinula chloropus), Junin chick (Laterallus tuerosi), flamingo or parihuana (Phoenicopterus chilensis), Andean lapwing (Vanellus resplendens), Andean gull (Larus serranus), challhuas (Orestias spp. and Trichur Nycteris oroyae), Andean fox (Pseudalopex culpaeus), weasel (Mustela frenata), skunk (Conepatus chinga), vizcacha (Lagidium peruvianum), wild cat (Oncifelis colocolo), wild guinea pig (Cavia tschundii), dense high altitude grassland with wetlands, puna grass, bofedales or oconales, and cattails are part of the wonderful and resilient biodiversity of the Junin National Reserve that survived the contamination of Lake Junin and that deserves to be valued and appreciated by all. Biodiversity that I hope to see someday when I visit this Ramsar site. Biodiversity of Junin National Reserve. Two species that I fell in love with for their beauty and great strength because, despite everything that happened to the lake, they are still alive. Two species endemic to Lake Junin: the Junin flightless grebe and the Lake Junin giant frog. ¡°The Junin flightless grebe and the Lake Junin giant frog¡± Retrieved May 13, 2022, from https://www.ecoanperu.org/jp.html and https://www.canalipe.tv/noticias/ecologia/volvieron-las-ranas-gigantes-de-junin This beautiful bird that can only be found in Lake Junin is characterized by its reddish eyes and its inability to fly, as it has adapted to an aquatic environment. It dives into the lake to feed on small fish and generally travels in groups of two or three individuals. It breeds from November to March and lays two eggs per year, from which only one chick is born. It is in critical danger of extinction, as there are less than 250 specimens left. Among the main causes that are driving it to extinction are the pollution of Lake Junin, climate change, and its inability to adapt to another habitat. ¡°Junin flightless grebe¡± This giant frog has dark green skin and can measure up to 60 centimeters in length and weigh 2 kilograms. Like the Junin flightless grebe, this giant frog is in danger of extinction due to the contamination of Lake Junin caused by mining tailings and poaching, which still persists, as this frog is highly sought after in black markets for human consumption due to its great nutritional value. ¡°Lake Junin giant frog¡± Grupo Rana: Conservación de la Biodiversidad de Junín. I hope that SERNANP and MINAM (Ministry of Environment) will execute effective strategies to avoid their extinction. Although this not only depends on these authorities, but also on the whole world, since climate change, a global problem, is contributing to the early extinction of many species. Hello Anghy, this is your mentor Chelwoon.
Flamingo is the only specie that I am familiar with among the species you listed in this article. It must be wonderful memory if we visit there! However, although we all wish and want to visit there, we sometimes need to keep a distance from this type of place. We would affect their habitat in some way without us knowing. Thank you for introducing us such beautiful creatures. Whenever I hear species that is difficult to be seen in daily life, it makes me feel the majesty of life. I hope they no longer suffer from the pollution.
Thank you for the article!
Regards,
Chelwoon

Hello Anghy, this is your mentor Joon.
It is always frustrating to hear that our precious environment is breaking down due to the deeds of companies only seeking for economic benefits. Such deeds should be restricted by regulations and be penalized significantly when they get caught by inserting such statements to law books. Thank you for introducing us such beautiful creatures which cannot be seen in other parts of the world. We should definitely work hard so that we could keep them survive in nature.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Best,
Joon
