In order to reduce air pollution, people are asked to make use of public transportation instead of driving their own cars to work or school. One of the favorite public transportation in Seoul is the Seoul Bike, which is the Seoul's bike sharing system. When the app was launched amid much skepticism in 2010, only 400 bicycles were available, but as of July 2021 there were 37,500 at 2,467 stations. Currently, six out of 10 people were found to use Seoul Bike.

Seoul's bicycle-sharing app Seoul Bike provides the greatest user satisfaction among the city's public services, a poll shows. The Seoul Metropolitan Government said the poll of 1,000 public service users showed that Seoul Bike achieved the highest satisfaction rating of 96.9 percent among the city's 10 public services. It was followed by the city's equipment-rental service (93.3 percent) and car-sharing service (91.7 percent). The average satisfaction rating of all 10 public services was 89.5 percent. Meanwhile, the most popular service was public Wi-Fi, used by eight out of 10 people. The poll also revealed that the city's public services have been used more often amid the coronavirus pandemic. Users have increased in the coronavirus pandemic as they tried to avoid enclosed public transportation.

There are many benefits in using the Seoul Bike. It is convenient for you to move around the proximity and you tend to be less affected by car traffic. You save money because it is cheaper than most transportations. There is less emission of carbon dioxide and you can enjoy cleaner air. Also, you become healthier by exercising. When you have a chance to visit Seoul, please try it.

Hello Seoyoon, this is your mentor Chelwoon.

I think the Seoul??s bike system is a great and successful model for eco-freindly public transportation. I witnessed how Seoul??s bike system has become part of Korean culture. Some commuters who live in Seoul use this application regularly with yearly memberships, and some foreign visitors ride Seoul??s bikes to visit the Han river park. However, infrastructure related to bike lanes in Korea are still insufficient. I hope a good environment for bike riding is set up so that more people can use the bikes as means of transportation.

    Thank you for the article!

    Regards,
    Chelwoon

Hello Seoyoon, this is your mentor Joon.

I am also the one taking a big advantage of Seoul's policy to run a public bike in cheap price. Did you know that such bikes cost more than $700 each? I have heard the fact from the personal lecture class of the CEO related to the business. It is a pure welfare which for Seoul's citizen not considering the expenses (I mean it in positive ways). Such bikes help reduce carbon emissions as the means of transportation could be replaced to bikes rather than cars and motorcycles. I hope it spreads to locations outside Seoul too.

Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon
