[Theme of the month] July - Nature and I

by Nataly Montesinos Canales | 24-07-2022 13:51 recommendations 0

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of visiting Cusco, Peru. I was especially impressed with two places: Machu Picchu and the mountain of seven colors.

Since 1981 Machu Picchu has been considered a 'Historic Sanctuary of Peru', a designation that protects both the archaeological site and the flora and fauna that inhabit it. Since 1983 it is 'Cultural Heritage of Humanity' and more recently, since 2007 it is one of the new '7 wonders of the Modern World'. It is therefore not surprising that it is the most visited place in all of Peru, with almost 1.5 million visitors a year.

This wonder does not need to be reviewed. Machu Picchu means old mountain in Quechua, is a city of stone, built by the Incas around XV. Rich in culture and full of peace. A place that photos do not do justice and you have to go see to believe.

About 100 kilometers southeast of Cusco, Peru, there is a rainbow made mountain. It is the mountain of the Seven Colors, also known as Vinicunca or Rainbow. The rainbow appearance of Vinicunca is due to "a complex geological history of marine, lake and river sediments," according to a report by the Office of Cultural Landscape of the Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Cusco.

Being here is a moment full of peace because you have to hike hard to get there, when you are at the top you feel the wind in your face and see birds flying around.

Hello Nataly, this is your mentor Joon.

As Machu Picchu is one of the most famous sites in the world, I have read thousands of articles related to it. However, it is my first time listening about the mountain of seven colours. After I have seen the name in this article, I got some time to search about it on google and Oh My, it is probably one of the most interesting photo which I have seen in my entire life. It is so shame that you were unable to upload the images on this site and I would like other ambassadors to have some chance to look at the photo.

Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon
