The Lake's Cry: Help my water.

by Vivian Nabisere | 15-08-2022 07:05 recommendations 1

Help my water.

Don¡¯t drink my water:
She is bearing heavy metals and toxins,
That she gets from raw agro based industrial outflow,
That could kill a baby in your womb,
That are draining the fish she contains.

Don¡¯t cook with my water:
Like blood moving from veins to the heart;
In her gathers rain water from surrounding tilled shores,
Carrying with it the fertilizers and dung from the earth:
That, like cruel intruders, suffocate and break nature in me,
That may harm you if taken in.
Even the trees of the land, that could, can no longer stop this;
They are gone; chopped and burnt down.

Help my water:
She withers away,
Under man¡¯s cultivation and deforestation,
Gone is the charm that had pulled multitudes to her in the olden days,
That had inspired cries of awe at how fresh an ocean I was:
She¡¯s dyed to dark rotting shades of green and brown,
Of algae and decay,
That symbolize,
The start of the cascade to my demise.
...............................

This poem is a call  from all water bodies to the human kind about the danger of consuming polluted water and to further advocate for conservation.

    Hello Vivian, this is your mentor Chelwoon.

    Nice poem! Did you write this poem yourself? ¡°The start of the cascade to my demise.¡± This sentence impressed me. We have to consider various things, as every aspect of our ecosystem is somehow connected to each other. For instance, if we have to find solutions for soil pollution, we must also consider adjacent rivers, lakes, weather conditions, residents, industries and so on.

    Thank you for the article!

    Regards,
    Chelwoon

    Hello Vivian, this is your mentor Joon.

    Nice poem which tells us about importance of conserving clean water. There are still many population in earth suffering from not having access to clean water, and should always be the problem to deal with.

    It was a pleasure for me to mentor you on past 6 months. What I feel, and realize now is that I have not been knowledgeable enough to provide more information related to different subjects. Hope you could keep up with environmental activities as well as your other works. Once again, thank you for following me.

    Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon

    Nice poem. We need to conserve water because water is life!
    Climate change has even caused more harm to lakes, most of the renown lakes are drying dramatically compared tp pre-industrial years
