March Thematic Report: Water Pollution

by Pragati Dubey | 15-08-2022 12:45 recommendations 0

A person in India can drink as much as 10 liters of water every day. But what about the rest of the world? Water is essential for human survival and consumption. However, access to clean drinking water is becoming a challenge for many people around the world. As per data released by United Nations¡¯ Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), approximately 190 million people are at risk of being exposed to water that is unsafe for drinking due to toxic pollution. What¡¯s worse is that this number is likely to increase due to rapid urbanization, industrialization and growing demand for arable land. Read on to know more about toxic water pollution and its consequences on human health.
What is toxic water pollution?
Water pollution is the introduction of pollutants into water. When contaminated water is ingested, it can cause various diseases. Toxic water pollution refers to the presence of pollutants in drinking water that can cause various diseases. Toxic water pollution occurs when hazardous chemicals enter the water supply through various means such as untreated wastewater, runoff from fertilizers, industrial chemicals, and natural sources such as volcanic eruptions. Water is essential for human survival. It is necessary for processes like breathing, eating, drinking, and hygiene. It is essential for many processes of living organisms. Eating, drinking, and washing with water are the basic processes of living organisms. It is important for human survival. However, water is also an important part of the environment that supports life. It plays an important role in the ecosystem by holding and transporting nutrients. Human activities have significantly altered the water resources. It has also contributed to the contamination of water resources. Water pollution can occur by different means, such as by dumping untreated effluents from industries, by contamination from human activities, by natural disasters, and by environmental factors such as floods and droughts.
Causes of toxic water pollution
Pollution of water resources can occur by different means. Every source of water pollution can be classified into five categories: natural, man-made, combined, combined with other sources, and combined with other sources. Natural causes - Natural causes include weather conditions such as floods, droughts, and volcanic eruptions that can cause water pollution. These conditions lead to water pollution as they alter the normal flow of water and make it unusable. - Natural causes include weather conditions such as floods, droughts, and volcanic eruptions that can cause water pollution. Man-made causes - Man-made causes include the discharge of untreated wastewater into water resources. Wastewater may contain human and industrial waste such as fertilizers, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, and biological and pharmaceutical waste. Wastewater also includes stormwater runoff that flows into water resources. - Man-made causes include the discharge of untreated wastewater into water resources. Combined causes - Combined causes arise from overlapping sources of pollution such as runoff from treated wastewater and stormwater, runoff from agricultural and natural sources, and runoff from industries. - Combined causes arise from overlapping sources of pollution such as runoff from treated wastewater and stormwater, runoff from agricultural and natural sources, and runoff from industries. Combined with other sources - Lastly, combined with other sources such as power generation, oil and gas extraction, and mining, is the most common type of combined cause of water pollution.
Consequences of toxic water pollution
When water resources are polluted, it causes a number of health problems. Drinking untreated or polluted water can cause various diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever, polio, measles, dysentery, and diarrhoea among others. Diseases caused by contaminated water resources are dangerous as they can infect both the drinker and those who come into contact with the water. Although the disease may not be fatal, it can cause a lot of harm to the person who is infected. It is important to protect yourself and others against water-borne diseases by only drinking water that has been regularly tested for bacteria and chemicals. Some of the most common water-borne diseases are cholera, typhoid fever, polio, and leptospirosis.
Measures to reduce toxic water pollution
There are a number of actions that can be taken to reduce toxic water pollution. These actions include reducing the amount of wastewater that is discharged into water sources, reusing wastewater, and recycling wastewater. Reducing the amount of wastewater that is discharged into water sources is key. It is difficult to filter out chemicals in wastewater. It is better to treat wastewater before releasing it into water resources. Waste water treatment plants can be used to remove harmful chemicals from wastewater. The treated wastewater can then be reused. Reusing wastewater is also important. It can be used to irrigate plants and crops or to clean industries. It can also be used for irrigation purposes. Reusing wastewater can also help to reduce water pollution as it reduces the amount of chemicals that may be present in wastewater. The last action that can be taken is to recycle wastewater. It can be used to generate power or can be treated to clean industries. It can also be used to generate irrigation.
Prevention of toxic water pollution
There are a number of measures that can be taken to prevent toxic water pollution. These include water treatment, wastewater treatment, and reusing wastewater. Water treatment is used to remove harmful substances from water resources. It can be done at the source or it can be done at the end of the water supply system. It is important to have quality water treatment. Water treatment can be done at the source or at the end of the water supply system. It can be done by mixing chlorine with the water to kill harmful germs or by mixing fluoride with the water to prevent tooth decay. The most effective method for water treatment is to use water filters. They are effective in removing harmful pathogens from water resources. However, it is important to remember that they should be regularly cleaned to be effective. Wastewater treatment is used to reduce the amount of harmful chemicals in wastewater. It can be done by using anaerobic bacteria to convert harmful chemicals into methane.
Conclusion
Water is an essential nutrient for life. However, it is important to remember that water is also a part of the environment. Just like air, water can be dangerous. Poisons in water can cause health problems. Toxic water pollution occurs when harmful chemicals enter the water supply. This may happen naturally, through wastewater discharge, or through leakage in pipes. It is important to protect water resources from pollution. It is also important to have clean drinking water.

Hello Pragati, this is your mentor Chelwoon.

India is the most suffering country in Asia from water pollution. There are various causes and effects of water pollution. Almost half of the people in the world are facing water scarcity and pollution due to unbalanced distribution and global level-water pollution. I think ¡°Wastewater Treatment¡±, which is our first way to prevent water pollution, is the most urgent issues we have to be deal with.

    Thank you for the article!

    Regards,
    Chelwoon

Hello Pragati, this is your mentor Joon.

Water is indeed one of the most crucial resource which human should have secure access to. However, in real life, such ideal situation is not happening. Different approaches are being made to secure water supply, but fundamental reason should be attacked: lack of infrastructure.

It was a pleasure for me to mentor you on past 6 months. What I feel, and realize now is that I have not been knowledgeable enough to provide more information related to different subjects. Hope you could keep up with environmental activities as well as your other works. Once again, thank you for following me.

Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon
