Social Contribution Activities of Corporations

In the start, we all seek guidance but when we are grown-up, it adds responsibility to the corporative social relations department to bring justice in actions by contributing to social campaigns. Talking is relevant and easy but implementing ideas being the bigger firm is what matters in any society. Every big industry is known to have a full-fledged working CSR department or Human Relations department globally. These departments are added to enhance productivity and bring optimization to working scenarios. Further, these contributions impact the community one way or the other, making either Youth learn or making them earn through marketing tools.

Corporate Social Responsibility also known as CSR defines the business model and degree of responsibility companies should maintain to have a positive impact on the world. The CSR model outlines how a company can be accountable to itself, its staff, its stakeholders, the public, and global and local environments. Every HR and CSR department contributes together to bring justice in actions and to add organized social campaigns for traction in the work. These are designed to help the company grow at one edge and also to bring enough CAGR through productive marketing, through the organized engagement of the community.

The CSR actions vary in their mode of working from ethical to the legal edge. Defining prerequisites and implementing an aligned CSR model do more help to the community than just the short-term campaigns for the environment and society. It aids by disseminating a positive impact on the business reputation while growing the marketing section of any corporation. As people are becoming more conscious socially and ethically, they chose or prioritize businesses that focus on community engagement. It aids in boosting the community's morale by enabling customer retention, triggering employee morale as an employee while employers gain a greater sense of purpose in their work. Thus, a defined CSR model of any corporation helps in bringing justice with effective community engagement.

CSR actions are further subcategorized for better understanding and customized working of the corporations. Every corporation designs its own CSR model as per the theme of its work and the vision of its company. These categories ranges from ethical to legal responsibilities and are designed accordingly.

1. Economic responsibilities: The first level of the pyramid is economic responsibilities, and it states the first priority should be creating profit through economic growth. A business cannot survive otherwise. This level is responsible for generation of enough revenue to provide job opportunities in the community.

2. Legal responsibilities: The second level of the pyramid defines a company¡¯s responsibility to follow all laws, regulations and compliances as they apply to its business operations. A business must adhere to the rules laid out by society if they wish to function as a business. These legal responsibilities are designed keeping in view the traditions and norms of the society. These attributes aid in better judgement while profiling the business or prioritizing any agreement.

3. Ethical responsibilities: The third level of the pyramid lays out the ethical responsibilities of a business. Ethical responsibilities are determined by management and include making moral decisions that impact employees, customers, the supply chain and the environment.

4. Philanthropic responsibilities: The fourth level of the pyramid refers to the expectation that a business will contribute to the quality of life for society. To be a good corporate citizen, a company should take part in initiatives such as volunteering or fundraising to give back to society. In Muslim Countries, such responsibilities are designed for funds relocation from rich to poor, under various domains like Zakat etc.

Some of these social contribution activities of corporations are enlisted as:

  1. Reducing carbon footprint.
  2. Engaging in charity work.
  3. Purchasing fair trade products.
  4. Investing in environmentally conscious businesses.
  5. Getting involved in volunteer work.
  6. Improving labour policies.
  7. Bringing marketing and influencing campaigns
  8. Engaging Youth in Mentoring, fellowships or paid internships.
  9. Awarding grants to small start-ups.
In the era of digitization, where everyone is socially interconnected, CSR programs can effectively play a role in uplifting any motive, expanding any initiative, and disseminating a message. There is a dire need to utilize such initiatives that promote environment-friendly impacts in the communities and raise awareness of climate impacts. These would help in revolutionizing the message instantly and bringing positive impacts by using influencers, different techniques like video animations, or brand recognition by using eco-friendly materials. In short, where we are focusing on environment-friendly impacts and evolving industries, we need to bring initiative that supports eco-friendly visions. It will help us in saving this globe, by reducing our carbon footprint and bringing more green impacts.

Hello Momina, this is your mentor Joon.

I did not think about legal responsibilities of companies in CSRs. Yet, reading through the cases of companies getting permissions to run the business under the conditions of social contribution, it could be understood.

It was a pleasure for me to mentor you on past 6 months. What I feel, and realize now is that I have not been knowledgeable enough to provide more information related to different subjects. Hope you could keep up with environmental activities as well as your other works. Once again, thank you for following me.

Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon
