Mexican prairie dog, do you know what is that? The Mexican prairie dog, Cynomys mexicanus, as its scientific name is, is an endemic animal of Mexico. It could be said that it is a relative of squirrels. It grows up to 44 centimeters long and weighs approximately one and a half kilograms. The prairie dog emits barks similar to those of a dog. As we have seen, this animal is essential for the environment. Unfortunately, it is in danger of extinction. for the simple reason of being considered a pest for agriculture. The solution, in my opinion, is to generate measures to curb the advance of agriculture in these areas, and other species such as the golden eagle, badger, and rattlesnake grasslands, among others, feed on this animal, so it is of vital importance to this animal.
