3 PUBLIC TRADED COMPANIES THAT ARE TRYING TO FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE

Around the world, people are actively trying to fight climate change in their ways, but those efforts can only do so much in the grand scheme of things. That is where the capitalist companies need to step in and realize how much power they possess and how much they can influence the current situation of the climate crisis. This article will discuss five companies giving back to society by being environmentally conscious and adopting practices to fight climate change.


  1. ALPHABET

-ALPHABET is the parent company of Google. It is the world's largest corporate buyer of renewable energy. In 2007 the company became carbon neutral, and it is the first company of its size to be able to match its electrical consumption with renewable energy. Moreover, it wants to become the first company to operate full-time on carbon-free energy y 2030.


  1. HP

-HP has committed to eliminate 75% of its single-use plastic packaging by 2025.

-It has started investing in equipment and services that are energy-efficient 

- It has also been increasing the number of recycled plastics in its equipment.

-the company has also launched HP SUSTAINABLE FOREST COLLABORATIVE to help forest restoration. 


  1. Johnson & Johnson 

-It has committed to packaging that is 100% eco-friendly and recycable by 2025.

-It currently runs on 35% renewable energy but plans on going 100% by 2050

-In 2019, it received Energy Star Partner of the year award.


  1. Apple

-Apple has been named "the most eco-friendly tech company in the world" from 2015-17 by the Greenpeace award.

-All of its facilities are carbon neutral.

-It plans to do the same thing with its products by 2030.

-iPhone final facilities had committed to reducing 20% energy by the end of 2020.

-It has invested in China Clean Energy Fund to support development of renwable energy
