Water is important to everyone in the world. In the USA, water is the key to economic success. It drives our agricultural industry, electricity, drinking water etc. But water pollution has become a huge issue in the past decade. USA's main source of pollution in agricultural runoff, where the chemicals and nutrients spill into the rivers and oceans of America. A detrimental effect of this is red tides. Red tides have become a serious issue in the past 3 years in America, especially in Florida. Florida has already lost 100s of millions of dollars in damages due to the red tides. Red tides are huge amounts of algae that bloom due to the excessive amounts of nutrients from the agricultural industry. 1000s of animals died, especially turtles, fishes, and dolphins, etc (Wild Life Florida).
The most detrimental factor is that this effects humans. The chemicals and toxins from industries can be transferred to us when consumed the fishes and animals that are exposed, leading to us also suffering from illnesses. According to Mote Laboratory and Aquariums, illnesses vary from skin itching, eye problems, to even cardiovascular problems when exposed. Due to our own actions, our waters are being polluted and are hurting us. Agricultural industries do have restrictions on the use of pesticides and chemicals, but as seen in Florida, has not been helping. Solutions have not been found, but some research has been been started to see if any solutions to remove these algredes from our bodies of water is possible. |

Hello, this is your mentor Minkyung.
Thank you for sharing information on the red tides. I have never heard of the term before, so I could gain knowledge on one of the consequences water pollution is creating.
Your report would be much more credible if you could include the source of the statistics you presented.
Great job writing October free report :)

Hi, Jayden Kim!
This is your mentor, Yoon.
Thank you for introducing the red tides. You did well in explaining what causes red tides. It would be easier for readers to follow your article if you could provide a relevant photo of the huge amounts of algae.
Great job on writing the free report.
I am looking forward to reading your following report!
