[October free report] Global pros and cons of nuclear energy |
---|

Lately, nuclear power is vigorously discussed in the energy industry topics. Some people believe that nuclear is an underutilised source of energy. It is cheap to produce and gives out low carbon emissions, they say nuclear should be a larger part of the world¡¯s energy mix as it transitions away from fossil fuels to low-carbon and renewable energy.
On the other hand, other people believe that nuclear is as bad than fossil fuels, if not worse. They say that the potential of a nuclear meltdown outweighs the pros of nuclear power because of their excessive costs and difficulty in disposing of the nuclear wastes. One of the advantages of nuclear energy is that, unlike other ordinary fossil fuels, nuclear power does not produce greenhouse gas emissions. Nuclear produces roughly the same or less emissions as renewable sources so could be considered an environmentally friendly source of energy. The other advantage of nuclear energy is that it is not intermittent; meaning, nuclear power plants can run without any interruptions for a year and more without any type of interruptions or maintenance. This makes it a more reliable source of energy. Nuclear energy is also cheaper to run. Looking on the cons of nuclear energy, irrespective of all the safety measures in place on nuclear plants, different factors cause them to go into meltdown, which is always devastating for the environment and for local inhabitants who always have to flee these affected areas. Another side effect of nuclear power is the amount of nuclear waste it produces. Moreover, nuclear energy plants are expensive to build. The original costs for building a nuclear power plant are steep

Hi, Rethabile Makatla!
This is your mentor, Yoon.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of nuclear power. You did well in describing the ups and downs of nuclear energy. It would be very significant for us to evaluate what we could gain while we lose others.
Nice job on writing the free report.
I am looking forward to reading your following report!
