Due to Climate change, all countries around the world are facing challenges created by themselves. Climate Change is the tragedy of commons and to mitigate and avoid it, we all must act now. Though developed nations of global North( including China and India of global South) are the main culprits of the Climate Change but the devastating impacts are being faced by poor and developing countries like Pakistan. Pakistan is continuously receiving severe climate shocks in the form of floods, heat waves and so on.
This year too Pakistan is hit by the most catastrophic floods of its history that lead to millions of climate refugees. In these hard times, government and non- government officials helped affected ones. Youngsters including me were specifically arranged "Flood Fund Collection Camps" to collect funds as well as other goods of daily use. We used to do our activities at the traffic signals, visiting schools, colleges, universities, religious centers and other such places. Every one we asked for help generously took part in rehabilitation of the flood affectees. We run this activity for about 45 days and collected funds worth of 5 million that were later distributed to the most affected regions. The volunteering was an amazing activity. It gave me a sense of belonging. It lead me to know how one can get real happiness and satisfaction and in fact this satisfaction lies in helping the depressed and needy ones.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It was heartbreaking to hear that Pakistan is receiving severe climate shocks. I hope that others also join volunteer work to help those in need, especially those affected by climatic events.

It is very unfortunate for Pakistan to face horrible floods. It is also very nice to know that you are actually volunteering for the people and that experience enriched you with a sense of belonging.
