One day, I was reading an article about Telsa electric cars and started to wonder what kind of battery they use. Later, I found out that they use Lithium ion batteries. Have you ever heard of lithium-ion batteries? It is made up of an anode, cathode, separator, electrolyte, and two current collectors (positive and negative). Laptops, mobile phones, and other portable electronic gadgets frequently employ lithium-ion batteries. They're also becoming more popular in electric vehicles. There are many advantages, and I will state some of them.
One of the primary advantages of lithium-ion batteries is their high energy density. This simply implies that they may have a high-power capacity while being compact. This is one of the primary reasons for the popularity of these batteries in the mobile sector.
Because of their compact size and weight, lithium-ion batteries are ideal for powering small, light-weight gadgets. This is one of the reasons why these batteries are used in the automotive and aerospace industries. Disadvantages
Li-ion battery is expensive to manufacture which literally increases its cost. It’s 35% more costly than Nickel-cadmium cells to manufacture. As the demand increases the cost for consumers increases which seems to be a major issue.
There are weight restrictions for lithium-ion batteries during shipment. Many airlines impose a restriction on the number of lithium-ion batteries that may be carried in luggage, and the security stance can change at any time. |
