Waste is one of the main issues the world faces. Humans produce waste in a variety of ways, including plastic, toxins, chemicals, and etc. Waste is most effective in the land and waters of our world, as it can pollute the waters and lands so that it is both unusable and unable for the animals to live there. According to dumpsters.com, the US produce about 268 million tons of waste every single, and this number is increasing. The United States furthermore produce the most amount of waste out of all countries.

So what are we doing to prevent waste from becoming outrageous?  The US is doing what most countries are doing such as reducing plastic production and usage for consumer like bottles, packaging, etc. Also, according to the LA times, the US use about 200 billion dollars per year on waste management and reduction. As seen, the US are using an immense amount of money to continue to limit the production of waste and manage it.

The most impact waste can cause in the world is in the waters. These waste can contaminate waters, and cause them to become toxic, and unsurvivable for animals that live in the waters. This can lead to many ecosystems dying, and furthermore destroy human industries and economies and even human health as waters that we use for consumption and recreation may become unusable in the future.

As you can see, waste is not something we should just look over on. Waste can become a detrimental issue to the society and the world and its existence. A problem I see in the US is the lack of enforcement on Waste management. Yes, we are using a lot of money, but I do not see any improvement, neither any research or new techniques to control waste. I think the US should be the leaders of new techniques, as they produce the most and should find a better way to limit it.

    Hi, Jayden Kim!
    This is your mentor, Yoon.

Thank you for introducing how waste affects the world. You did well in choosing the appropriate photo that effectively implies your message. Your writing is also convincing as you supplied a reliable source, the LA times, to backup the points you made in the article.

Great job on writing the thematic report.
I am looking forward to reading your following report!

Hello, this is your mentor Minkyung.

Thank you for sharing information on waste and its impacts on the environment. I think the reference of the picture, 'Photo from Yale University', should be at the bottom of the report, just to make sure that readers don't confuse the reference with the content of the report.

I'll be looking forward to your next report :)
