<Waste> [December thematic report]

Where are we headed?

Our current waste disposal is giving rise to new problems that may endanger and contribute harmful pollutants to the environment.
I live in Mexico, which as a developing country, does not have recycling centres; it is more common for waste to end up on streets or in a wasteland. Therefore we are facing soil contamination (the concentration of toxic chemicals and pollutants that degrade land)
Days ago, I visited my aunt, who lives in a remote town; it was a surprise to look at the streets because there were landfills and mountains of waste.
So I asked myself: where are we headed?
We agree that it is incorrect, but what alternatives do we have?
Not all trash is biodegradable. All waste contaminates.
Thus, if the government does not act, we should take the initiative; to avoid using disposable products, contribute to sustainable development and recycle.
Small actions make a difference, so we should raise awareness and be responsible for our waste.
We require an aware society and a conscious government.
It is essential to reduce our carbon footprint.
In Mexico, private companies manage the landfills; which reinforces our poor waste management and recycling culture.
In Mexico State, the port of Tepatlaxco is a garbage dump for several municipalities, including Atizapán, Tlalnepantla, and Naucalpan.
All this garbage creates a foul smell and diseases like mosquitoes, rats and insects.
As a society, we should contribute to generating a solution; we can start by recycling and separating garbage.
The industry has to commit to embracing clean and efficient processes to manage the waste; authorities should provide efficient garbage collection services, and invest in water treatment and recycling plants.
As soon as all these measures are implemented, Mexico will guarantee environmental protection, ecological balance and a minimal polluting effect.

Hello, this is your mentor Minkyung.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge on waste disposal. I think your report would have been much easier to read if you put several sentences together into a paragraph, according to their content.

Great job writing December report :)
