[April Theme Report ] Current Status and Efforts to Improve Air Quality?

by Ravelomanana Rolande HANTANIAINA | 14-04-2023 02:58 recommendations 0

Air pollution is a growing global problem that affects the health of millions of people worldwide. It is caused by a variety of human activities, such as burning fossil fuels, transportation, and industrial processes. In recent years, air pollution has become a major concern due to its impact on human health and the environment.

The quality of air has been deteriorating over time due to the increase in pollutants in the atmosphere. The concentration of carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has risen significantly since the Industrial Revolution. This increase is mainly due to human activities, such as burning fossil fuels for energy, deforestation, and agricultural practices.

The effects of air pollution can be devastating for human health, causing respiratory problems, heart disease, and other health issues. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution is responsible for the premature death of over 7 million people worldwide each year. In Europe, air pollution is the largest environmental health risk, with over 400,000 premature deaths annually.

To combat air pollution, many efforts are being made to reduce emissions of pollutants and improve air quality. One of the most effective ways to reduce air pollution is to reduce the use of fossil fuels and transition to renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power. This can be achieved by implementing policies and regulations that encourage the use of clean energy and discourage the use of fossil fuels.

Another approach to reducing air pollution is to improve transportation systems, such as promoting public transportation, encouraging the use of electric vehicles, and improving the efficiency of existing vehicles. Technologies such as hybrid and electric cars, as well as fuel-efficient engines, can significantly reduce emissions of pollutants.

In addition to reducing emissions, efforts are also being made to develop technologies that capture and store pollutants. Air filters are one example of such technologies, which remove pollutants from the air using physical or chemical processes. Another approach is air capture, which involves capturing and storing carbon dioxide and other pollutants from the air.

Research is also being conducted to better understand the causes of global warming and how to mitigate its effects. Scientists are studying the Earth's atmosphere, oceans, and ecosystems to develop strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to the effects of climate change.

In conclusion, air pollution is a serious global problem that affects human health and the environment. It is caused by a variety of human activities, including burning fossil fuels, transportation, and industrial processes. Efforts are being made to reduce emissions of pollutants and improve air quality through policies, regulations, and technological developments. By working together, we can reduce air pollution and create a healthier and more sustainable future for all.

Hello Ravelomanana! This is your mentor Yewon.

Before I start, I want to apologize for the late comment.

You have written an outstanding report about air pollution! In your report, you have discussed very important issues regarding air pollution, such as the reason and effects of air pollution, and means to reduce it! Especially I agree with your point of view that it is important to decrease the use of fossil fuels and replace them with renewable energy sources! Moreover, technologies that capture and store pollutants which you mentioned in your report would be great solutions to air pollution problem, so I hope those technologies would be more developed and be applied to our lives soon!

Thank you for your great report! I hope to read your next report too!

Hello Ravelomanana! This is your mentor James.

You have broadly covered every aspect of air pollution, from its causes and consequences to means of pacification and prevention. I see that you have looked into the WHO data regarding casualties from air pollution. I honestly didn't know that the numbers would be this high...I hope the industrial sectors soon come up with a technical solution to this massive air pollution issue such as by developing Direct Air Capture(DAC) technologies and etc.

Thank you for your article! Can't wait to read your following reports.
