As air travel continues to grow in popularity, concerns about its environmental impact are also on the rise. The aviation industry has made significant strides in recent years to reduce emissions, but with passenger numbers expected to double by 2037, more needs to be done to ensure sustainable growth. One of the main challenges facing the industry is reducing carbon emissions. Aircraft are responsible for approximately 2% of global carbon emissions, and while airlines have made efforts to improve fuel efficiency and invest in alternative fuels, there is still a long way to go. One promising solution is the development of electric and hybrid aircraft, which could drastically reduce emissions and noise pollution. Another issue is the impact of aviation on local air quality. Airports are often located in densely populated areas, and the emissions from planes can contribute to poor air quality and negative health impacts for nearby communities. This has led to increased pressure on airports to reduce emissions and invest in alternative transportation options, such as electric shuttles and trains. In addition to environmental concerns, there are also social and economic factors to consider. Air travel has become a vital part of global commerce and tourism, connecting people and businesses across the world. However, concerns about noise pollution, safety, and the impact of aviation on local communities have led to increased activism and opposition to airport expansion and new flight routes. To address these challenges, the aviation industry must take a holistic approach that balances growth and sustainability. This includes investing in research and development to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, promoting alternative transportation options, and engaging with local communities to address concerns and find solutions that work for everyone. Ultimately, the future of air travel will depend on our ability to balance the economic and social benefits of aviation with the need to protect the environment and public health. By working together, we can create a sustainable future for air travel that benefits us all. |

Hello Ravelomanana! This is your mentor Yewon.
Before I start, I apologize for the late comment.
You have written a very interesting report! Especially, the discussion between sustainability and development is quite controversial and important, so I thought this topic should be thought about a lot. I think your report offers a very important point of view and I strongly agree with your idea that research and technical developments should be done!
Thank you for your meaningful report! Great job!

Hello again Ravelomanana! This is your mentor James.
And again, terribly sorry for the late comment!
What an interesting topic to write about after your theme report! Eco-friendly aviation technology is certainly a field to study about, considering the amount of air pollution, energy consumption, and the loud noise from the flights. I really agree that a hybrid energy storage system in aircrafts would be a practical and viable solution, since a 100% electric airplane is still unrealistic with our current battery technology.
Thanks for writing such a meaningful report! Let's keep up the good work.
