Recently I have been to Germany, and I want to share about sustainable public facilities in Germany to implement for our developing countries. -
Tap water system. People in Germany drink tap water, and it's not only safe and high quality but also environmentally friendly. Firstly it helps to reduce plastic waste since people stop using single-use plastic bottles. Secondly, it saves energy, since producing bottled water requires energy for the extraction, purification, and bottling processes. Thirdly, it saves money, since tap water is significantly cheaper than tap water. -
Caring about trees. From the photos, you can see that in Germany, construction ensures protective measures for trees. -
Public awareness - A) Once I bought jeans and inside there was a text describing that its fabric contains min of 20% textile waste and labels made from recycled polyester and calls to wash only needed to increase lifetime. B) Program gave us shopper bags and I saw the labels where it says, that this bag is manufactured solely using renewable energy from wind and solar power. C) In cafes I observed that there were texts outside napkin boxes: One napkin only please) D) Also, we got paper straw instead of plastic ones and it is biodegradable. -
Glass bottles. The usage of glass bottles is more famous than plastic ones. Firstly it is environmentally friendly and perceives higher quality. Secondly, they have a well-developed system for returnable beverage bottles, known as "Einwegpfand" or "Mehrwegpfand." This system encourages the reuse of glass bottles by imposing a deposit fee that is refunded when the bottles are returned to the store. This has contributed to the popularity of glass bottles for beverages. In conclusion, I believe that even though these are little things that I observed, they can make great help to the environment. Also, I hope that our country also achieves such sustainable practices as soon as possible.

Hello Aysara! This is your mentor James.
First of all, sorry for the late comment!
For this report, you've mentioned about eco-friendly infrastructure and social norms in Germany which developing countries may adopt! I really admire the fact that there are a lot of German products which is made up of reused plastic or degradable biomaterials, as well as products made by renewable energy. I hope other countries would follow suit as you've said above.
Thanks for writing such a meaningful report! Great work.

Hello Aysara! This is your mentor Yewon.
Thank you for sharing several eco-friendly urban technologies with us!
Germany is one of the countries that utilize eco-friendly technologies a lot, so there are lots of things we could learn from them.
Especially recycling machine looks very interesting! There exist machines similar to them in Korea too, but it's not widespread yet.
Thank you again for your interesting report with lots of pictures that help us better understand!
Great job!!
