May Free Report: Solving Plastic Wastes

by Dafford Owino | 24-05-2023 01:13 recommendations 0

Plastic waste is a significant environmental challenge that has been causing harm to the planet
for decades. However, the good news is that there are solutions to this problem. In this report, we will discuss ten key learnings from this informative report on finding solutions to plastic
wastes that can help us address this challenge effectively. Plastic recycling is not the ultimate solution
While recycling is often touted as the solution to plastic waste, it is not the ultimate solution. This is because recycling is not a perfect process, and some plastics are not recyclable. Moreover, plastic recycling requires a lot of energy and resources, which can be costly and
environmentally damaging. Plastic reduction is key
To address plastic waste effectively, we need to focus on reducing plastic consumption. This
can be done by using alternative materials, packaging, and products that are more sustainable
and eco-friendly. We can also reduce plastic waste by reusing and repurposing plastic items. Biodegradable plastics are not the answer
Biodegradable plastics are often marketed as a solution to plastic waste. However, these
plastics are not the answer because they can still harm the environment and take a long time to
decompose. Moreover, some biodegradable plastics require specific conditions to break down, which are not always present in the environment. Plastic bans can be effective
Bans on single-use plastics, such as straws and bags, can be effective in reducing plastic waste. This is because these items are often discarded after a single use and are not recyclable. By
banning these items, we can reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfills and
oceans. Extended producer responsibility is important
Extended producer responsibility (EPR) is a policy that holds manufacturers responsible for the
disposal and recycling of their products. This policy can encourage manufacturers to produce
more sustainable and eco-friendly products and reduce the amount of plastic waste generated. Plastic waste management requires collaboration
Addressing plastic waste requires collaboration between individuals, businesses, and
governments. We need to work together to find solutions and implement policies that can
reduce plastic waste and protect the environment.

Hello Dafford! This is your mentor James.

First of all, sorry for the late comment!

The problem of plastic waste is definitely a challenging task to solve for our society. I'm interested in your opinion of questioning the reliability of plastic recycling, since I also thought that plastic upcycling process requires extra energy and time. However, I think that the main reason why recycling is carried out is because the amount of plastic accumulated in the environment and in our society is already over the limit and should be dealt with in a greener way. Thus, with more effort, recycling is inevitable in our current state.

Thanks for writing such a meaningful report! Great work.

Hello Dafford! This is your mentor Yewon.

You have written a report about plastic waste problem for may free report!
Plastic waste is a big problem for the earth because it is hard to be degraded and therefore it pollutes soil and water a lot.
As you mentioned above, I also think that reducing plastic consumption is the most important thing we must do.
Moreover, I haven't heard about EPR and it was interesting to get to know about that policy!

Thank you for sharing! Great report!!
