May thematic report-Blue waste to value redefining waste management

by Lhamu dolma Sherpa | 29-07-2023 16:52 recommendations 0

Blue waste to value is company working to change waste to something valuable. Their modest joint efforts are focused on the community's waste collection, source-level segregation, and transfer to a material recovery facility (#MRF), where process the waste (re-segregate-shred-wash-dry-transfer). Then these materials were placed in the extruding machine to create plastic lumber, which was then furnished into ideal benches that have been installed in public areas for use by all.

The weight of a single bench equals the weight of 6250 used 100ml shampoo bottles, which are saved from the landfill or can be said to have served a higher purpose.
In total, we were able to recycle 75,000 shampoo bottles of 100 ml to make 12 benches that can accommodate 72 spectators at once in the Pumptrackkathmandu.

Since its establishment, Blue Waste to Value has been encouraging recycling, lowering waste sent to landfills, and generating green jobs in order to maximize value from waste. This will contribute to change perception of people towards the importance of recycling and reducing waste.
