While it has brought economic opportunities and improved living standards for many, its impact on our lives and the environment cannot be overlooked. This article explores the effects of urbanization, both negative and positive, and highlights the growing efforts to protect urban landscapes and mitigate its environmental consequences. 1. Environmental Consequences of Urbanization As cities grow, natural habitats are often sacrificed to accommodate infrastructure and housing. This leads to deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and disruption of ecosystems. Additionally, urbanization contributes to air and water pollution, increased energy consumption, and higher levels of carbon emissions. These environmental consequences pose significant challenges to the sustainability of urban areas. 2. Impacts on Human Lives Urbanization has both positive and negative impacts on human lives.
