"Ecuador's Biodiversity Crisis: A Call for Urgent Environmental Awareness"

Latin America's Unprecedented Loss of Natural Capital

The planet faces a critical loss of biodiversity, with deforestation and coral reef destruction highlighting the urgency of addressing habitat loss and climate change. The Global Living Planet Index (IPV) 2020 reveals a 68% average collapse of studied populations between 1970 and 2016.

COTOPAXI

Latin America and the Caribbean suffer a staggering 94% biodiversity loss due to overexploitation, climate change, and habitat destruction. Safeguarding this rich biodiversity is crucial for global climate goals, particularly in the Amazon, which contributes significantly to carbon dioxide extraction and climate mitigation. Ecuador, home to more species per unit area than any other country, needs more environmental awareness.

SEA LIONS

The Galapagos Islands exemplify the need for strict controls to prevent invasive species and illegal resource trafficking. Every species, from flora to fauna, plays a crucial role in Earth's natural cycle. Generating environmental awareness becomes imperative to halt the decline of natural resources and prevent irreparable damage. As Ecuador grapples with abundance and neglect, the call for urgent environmental awareness is essential. The nation must recognize the value of its unique biodiversity, acting as stewards for its preservation.
