Renewed conflicts In Amazon

A variety of conflicts have been dealt with Amazon Rainforest. January 2011, one of those conflicts renewed between indigenous groups and oil companies. Tribal groups protested in portions of Maranon and Corrientes Rivers in the province of Loreto in northeastern Peru. The main conflict between oil companies and indigenous protestors is contamination from oil spill in June, 2010. A tanker transporting oil for Pluspetrol, an Argentinan oil company, spilled 400 barrels of oil into the Maranon River. Although the company was severely blamed for the accident, indigenous groups are still demanding compensation of Plupestoral for their pollution through reforestation efforts. However, there are still more conflicts other than the oil spill. Plupestoral owns two oil concessions in Peruvian Amazon, which continuously dumps oil wastes to the river. As such related issues appear more and more, situations get more tangled.
