Sidoarjo, Indonesia - Disaster must remain suffers, like Lapindo?s mud in 2006 that made many people homeless. No doubt, waste is a complicated environmental problem that affects degradation on environment and lives if there is no management. With the support of AV Peduli Team of Research and Development, we attempt to mould waste to make *Wastone* (acronym of Waste and Stone) bricks. This innovation is meant to help Lapindo?s victims build houses. Meanwhile, Wastone reduces waste significantly. Cooperating with government and communities, we do not only socialize to raise people's awareness, but also give real impacts by helping 80% victims to have home again. Wastone is cost-effective and environment friendly. Below I would like to share how to make Wastone practically: Make the inner box 20 cm x 8 cm x 13 cm using 4 pieces iron plates. Make the outer box 22 cm x 10 cm x 15 cm using 20 pieces unused woods Fill in inner box with appropriate waste, especially un-degradable one (like plastic, Styrofoam, etc.) wholly. Put inner box into outer box which has been given layer of 1 cm mixed cement and sand. Fill in the space of outer box with cement and sand. Pick up inner box while leaving waste in the outer box. Pick up the inner box & fill upside with mixed cement and sand Wait for 12 hours. Water it & pick up the outer side after 12 hours. Put it under trees for about 7 days for drying it Wastone is ready to use. Of course, we have done the Quality Control to make sure the weight baring, and other condition. This has been implemented to build some houses. Hopefully, many more people will realize the importance of managing waste.
