Sidoarjo, Indonesia - ABC means: Aerob Bin for Composting. We can compost wet waste easier than using manual method. Many people concerned in environment, but only few of them were interested in reducing wet waste seriously because it is tiring activity to stir it daily.

 

AV Peduli hascampaigned ABC platform which can produce optimal non-chemical compost. Getting support from local government of Sidoarjo and many media, we made ?Safari Komposter Road Show?. Target audiences were multi-ages people in whole Sidoarjo city.

 

ABC also has economic value added to get income from selling compost.Through our research and experiments, we believe that our ABC does not have troublesome as much as manual composting has because ABC has the pipe at the top for air circulation and also the pipe in the bottom for letting water out without having to stir waste everyday. So there will be many more people are joining in utilizing waste management instead of just littering or dumping it. This ABC project is also reducing the bad smells and diseases-spreading possibilities from unmanaged waste.

Through making and using ABC, people can reduce waste both the non-organic (plastic) as well as the organic waste (wet waste) until 20 percents from 623,1 meter cubic per day.
