Fellow Eco-Generation members, First of all, heartiest belated wishes of Christmas and a very happy new year ahead. I wanted to share with everybody the latest and the best news of today: 5 of the top 10 environmental technologies in the past 5 years. Here are the environmental technologies: 5. Making Oil from anything This may seem absurd, but any carbon-based waste, from turkey guts to used tires, can, by adding sufficient heat and pressure, be turned into oil through a process called thermo-depolymerization, This fact is really amazing and helpful at the same time as the need to find an efficient fuel is growing in demand in the common era and it is very pleasing to know that if this type of industry gets monopoly in the market, the growing need of the public for this liquid gold can be subsided. Plus, it is a great way to recycle things so that we can reuse them again. 4. Harvesting the sun's energy wisely The very common topic come up in the modern era is the use of the solar panel made up of many solar cells that can be used to power watches, calculators, parking meters, roofs and even cities.A great example of this is the Masdar city in the Abu Dhabi that is a zero carbon city and uses the idea of a solar panel to a great extent. So the solar panel is a really great thing in the advancements of environmental science. 3. Burying carbon dioxide As the title suggests, injecting CO2 gas into the soil can help a lot in omitting the carbon dioxide gases from the air. Carbon dioxide is a very big threat to the environment and if not taken care of, this greenhouse gas can be fatal for mankind. Planting is of course the best solution, but burying this gas into the soil, oil wells, rocks and saline reservoirs can speed things up. 2. Making roof gardens Planting on the roofs not only does absorb carbon dioxide and give oxygen more efficiently, but also absorbs storm water and makes the resident building or villa cooler. This concept originated in Babylon, when a king wanted to please his Queen and planted on the roofs of the palace, noticing that the palace became a lot cooler in a period of time. In the photo, a green roof is tested at Chicago's City Hall. And the best of them all: 1. Making paper electronic and reusable Imagine curling up on the couch with the morning paper and then using the same sheet of paper to read the latest novel by your favorite author. This would solve the problem of cutting down trees and also of course, end the debate of books vs. e-books. This idea is also called electronic paper. Though not in much use today, this is bound to be the best discovery of mankind. So that was basically a blow-by-blow of the environmental advances that can change the future. These methods are in minor practice right now, but they will grow magnanimously and change the face of the future if implemented in the correct manner.
