Crops of Bangladesh |
---|
The soil of Bangladesh is wonderfully fertile. Rivers are copious here. As a result, most people of our country live by agriculture and grow a large variety of crops every year. Crops are mainly two kinds – food crops and cash crops .Food crops are eaten and cash crops bring money. Rice is our main food crop. Rice grows all over the Bangladesh. We produce large quantity of rice every year and yet this large quantity is not at all adequate to meet our total demand. In recent we have been growing some wheat in winter. The cultivation of wheat has been intensified concededly to reduce too much dependence on rice> fruits like mangoes, pine apples oranges, jack fruits grow in our country plenty. Vegetables like cabbages cauliflowers, carrots, beans etc grow abundantly here. Jute was the principal cash crop of our country. We grow the best quality of jute in the world and it is still world?s best and durable packing material. It grows in Sylleht and Chittagong. Cotton Grows in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dinajpur. It is used in the cotton mills of our country. Rubber grows on a small scale in the Bandar ban area. pic source:http://www.knowledgebank-brri.org |
