Dear Members & Ambassadors, I wish to share an amazing experience at Masdar City. After we parked our car in the parking, we were directed to move to PRT. Surprised we entered the arena. It has many small platforms for a car like vehicle. Soon a Car arrived. We pressed a button. Platform & car doors opened together. We entered it. It has a seat for 4 persons. The doors closed automatically. Surprise! There was NO DRIVER in the vehicle. It looked like a sci-fi movie. The car stared moving automatically. After an amazing journey of 3 minutes it reached its destination. While it was moving it came across other cars but it stopped well short of the other car & moved after the other car was out of its way. Our journey was very comfortable & safe. Now I?ll update you about PRT. PRT is Personal Rapid Transit – is an on demand transportation system that combines the merits of a private car & public transportation. It runs on lithium batteries, which are powered by solar energy produced at Masdar City. It is therefore, eco-friendly. It is manufactured by 2getthere. Designed by an Italian design house Zagato, which has designed cars for Ferrari, Bently, Aston Martin etc. The PRT uses a virtual software to guide its journey. It uses magnets embedded within the floor surface. Designed to the highest international safety standards, it uses advanced collision avoidance sensors. The network is constantly monitored to ensure a safe & an uninterrupted journey. Just to remind the Tunza guys that Dubai Metro also runs driverless & it is world?s longest driverless metro. |
