Brace yourself flood was coming!

by | 29-01-2014 19:18 recommendations 0

This month, January 2014, flood was coming since one week ago. Heavy rain always come and hit Jakarta. I had took some pictures to share with all of you, but the flood also came to my boarding house and swamped my camera.. so I could just share the pictures which took by others.

It was the sad condition that I've been through. My boarding house is located around Ciliwung River, and when the wet season (January) was coming.. people said to "brace your self". The flood came ... the area around Ciliwung river including my boarding house was full of water, if I could approximate ... the high of water was 3 m. I just feel lucky that I had been leaving my boarding house as quick as I could. Alhamdulillah! God save my life always.

"Five people have died in Jakarta so far from drowning or electrocution in the floods," National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nurgoho told AFP. More than 4,300 people in the capital have been displaced by the floods, which also worsened the city's notorious traffic jams. Indonesia is regularly hit with deadly floods and landslides during its wet season, which lasts for around six months. Environmentalists blame logging and a failure to reforest denuded land for exacerbating the floods.-Taking from the Jakarta Post.

The flood is coming today after the heavy rain hit Jakarta at night before. The flood had been known by the public as the yearly flood, so every year Jakarta must be aware with that. I hope this condition will be better tomorrow... Stay save everyone!

This is a very depressing and unfortunate incident... We, in the Philippines, had been struck by typhoon and many of the regions and provinces in the Philippines have been affected and severely devastated. Many people have lost their lives and homes. Thus, in response to this, many NGOs and my school have raised relief funds to alleviate this effect. We raised funds and foods and delivered them to the affected ones. Such natural disasters and catastrophes can be attributed to the climate change. We are all responsible for this unfortunate incident. We should lessen our impact to our nature and there are many ways to do this.
I hope that everything will turn better. Thank you for sharing this report.
