hehehehe... this is my first report.. i'd like to write a creative stuff in my place.. Indonesia is agrarian country, it prove by the number of people that work as farmer. Agriculture production have eficiency about 40%, it mean there?s a lot of waste material because imperfectly transformation from input to output in production process. Commonly, agriculture waste isn?t utilize in optimum way, even though the number of waste is so huge and overflow. One of agriculture waste that have huge number is sawdust (203 041.6 m3/year), it also didn?t utilize in optimum way. Unuseful sawdust waste will polute environment such as bad smell, disease source, etc. BAU (Bogor Agriculture University) student try to utilize sawdust into something useful, such as ?Horta? doll. Horta is a planting media from sawdust in the doll form, where grass can grow from its head. This doll is very suit to train the children about take care the plant, learning media for children to love their environment and to increase environment awareness. How to grow horta grass? We start with submerged its head into water as long as 1 hour, then we just need to spray water every day into its head. The grass will grow after 1 week and its gonna look like a hair, beside that children can create they own style by control grass development. After 2-3 month, grass will stop to growth and its gonna turn blonde. Today, horta doll is already commersialize and this business develop very fast and produce million rupiah (Indonesia currency) every month.This doll also became one of the most popular souvenir from BAU (Bogor Agricultural University). Horta doll is an example that waste is not always bad,, waste also can be something useful and bring profit (money).. depend on how we manage it..
