Fulfilling my moral responsibility towards Environment under great Leaderships- by Simran Vedvyas

I could fulfill my moral duty towards environment by volunteering as part of Emirates Environmental Group initiative at the Exhibition stand from 12 noon to 2 pm on 13th March 2012 on the opening day of the Exhibition. Besides a wide array of publications and educational paraphernalia on proper waste management, water & energy conservation, recycling, and environmental protection, the EEG's booth specifically showcased its 'Every Drop Matters' campaign.  This project is implemented in the UAE by the EEG, and is supported by the United Nations Development Program, UNDP Water Governance Program and the Eurasia and Africa Group of the Coca-Cola Company. The initiative aims at promoting responsible water resource management for strengthened resilience to climate change and reduced emission of greenhouse gases.
I participated and learnt from my seniors to manage the Exhibition stand and interacted with visitors who were interested in various campaigns.   We distributed Educational material also.  This international event gave me with an inspiring insight to the global innovations on energy and environment conservation.  I also interacted with officials from DEWA, we discussed about Water Conservation and Earth Hour Event 2012.

I learnt about many interesting facts and especially about Smart Grid and its benefits.  There were many seminars and exhibits too which all related to power, energy, water saving and means to adopt for a better and eco living.  There were many Exhibitors from Korea too and my Korean magnetism pulled me there- Thanks to Eco Generation

WETEX 2012 -Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition, organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Finance Minister, the event welcomed large number of participants, categories and activities and events related to energy, water, environment, renewable sources of energy, conservation and other environmental issues and concerns.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, has always paid great attention to the UAE?s environment, calling for adopting best practices in different businesses and different daily walks of life, to conserve natural resources. This includes development and promotion of green technology, and its first phase of its implementation includes carbon capture and conversion of waste into energy to instill the concept of conservation of energy and water consumption; thereby preventing our resources being wasted and protecting our environment from pollution.

Emirates Environmental Group Chairperson Ms. Habiba Al Marashi said-
WETEX is an important regional and international platform to share best practices and to position the UAE as a global leader in the pursuit for technological advancements in the water, energy and environment sectors. This is also the best venue to exchange ideas on how to implement sustainable energy solutions to meet the ever-increasing regional and global demand for energy and to promote economic development, conserve our natural resources, and protect the environment

Yes Christy, I will compile a report shortly and post in as I also met the officials during the water forum in Marseille. Every drop matters is an ongoing campaign and it will be good for others to promote this in all regions too
