Environmental Conservation in Academic Conversation |

Water conservation has become an essential practice in all regions, even in areas where water seems abundant.In addition to saving money on your utility bill, water conservation helps prevent water pollution in nearby lakes, rivers and local watersheds. Water conservation encompasses the policies, strategies and activities to manage fresh water as a sustainable resource to protect the water environment and to meet current and future human demand. Population, household size and growth and affluence all affect how much water is used. There are lots of ways to save water around the home, as much of the water we use is wasted. By making a few small changes in your habits you can help save water, not by going short or without, but by cutting out waste and unnecessary use. Conserving water can also extend the life of our septic system by reducing soil saturation, and reducing any pollution due to leaks. Overloading municipal sewer systems can also cause untreated sewage to flow to lakes and rivers. The smaller the amount of water flowing through these systems, the lower the likelihood of pollution. In some communities, costly sewage system expansion has been avoided by community wide household water conservation. This year is hopefully my last year as a Senior High School student. I always have a dream to be able to continue my further study in a 'green campuss" where concepts of environment conservation are in harmony with academic conversations. One of such campuss I fall in love with in Jakarta is the Indonesian University Campuss, locally known as "Kampus UI". Kampus UI is a green campus covering 320 hectares. It maintains the ecology conservation by utilizing only 25 percent of area for academic, research and student activities while up hold 75 percent for forestation. UI commitment for ecology is also shown by wonderful lakes (in total UI has 8 lakes) inside campus. Wish me a very big luck guys to pass my examination with a good result. |

Thank you for the article, it's informative and interesting :) I spent 3 years to get accustomed to saving a drop of water and got surprised how much water I've wasted during my life! It's really important saving water 'really' in our daily life to keep the nature for the future generations...

i feel the same, i currently am in the green school probably most eco-friendly school in the nation doing high school and I am planning to go abroad, where I aim to go for green and eco-friendly college. Hope both of us will get so.
