Banglalink, the second largest mobile telecom operator has formed a cyclist club this week. This club has the spirit of using Eco friendly transport  within the company's human resources. This forum of the eco-friendly riders is of its first kind in Bangladesh of any corporate organization. Experts think that its just the start. There will be lot more organizations who will inspire its employees to use Eco friendly transport.

We know corporate giants usually dont like to pay attention to the environment. But in this case bicycle is the only transport which takes minimum time to reach a workplace because of extreme traffic jam in Dhaka city. Twenty minute bicycle ride can save you forty minutes loss stuck in traffic jam on the road. This is a huge productivity loss due to traffic jams. Its bad to spend extra one hour on the road after working in the workstation.

Banglalink named it Tigers' Cyclist Club. The club was lunched by a rally with 133 members. The department of human resources and administration of Banglalink in association with Environment-Health-Safety (EHS) unit of administration services took the initiative of opening the Tigers' Cyclists Club for employees. Bicycle doesn't have any carbon emission which ensures a great environmental benefits. And we all know the statement- Cycle runs on fat, saves money while motor-vehicles runs on oil, burns money.

Employees of Banglalink have responded the initiative accepting it as fun and sporty. They also feel good for promoting Eco-friendly transport and their contribution in less carbon emission. Recently many Dhaka city dwellers specially the youth are very interested in cycling. Cycling keeps their body and mind fresh and fit.

@Asadullahil, I agree with you, broaden roads and constructing more roads is really hard after the city already got developed. It's never easy to remove existing buildings and shops for improving roads. But for much better transportation, this must be done.

Christy, you are right, but its a matter of sorrow that the normal traffic system of Dhaka is the worst. May be one day we could get safe roads for cyclists.

Cyclists with headgears looks cool. It is indeed a commendable effort by Banglalink. Hope other co.s also do the same for its employees.
But the idea will be successful if all uses their cycles regularly.
