Keeping up with the Tradition – SYNERGY planted 34 trees observing the 17th UAE National Environment Week Celebration
SynergY, the youth group for the second time celebrated UAE National Environment Week 2014 by Planting 34 trees and encouraging the youth to get an insight on waste composting and waste management, thus reducing and lifting the pressure off the landfills. The enthusiastic group observed the 17th UAE National Environment Week celebration by this climate action symbolizing the first half of 17 trees for the present generation and the following half for the future generations?, on 8th Feb 2014 atTadweer. Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, every year the country marks the National Environment Day on February 4 and the week follows activities and events to highlight and galvanize public action and awareness about key environmental issues in the UAE supporting the spirit of individual and collective initiatives and responsibility among all segments of the society on environmental issues. Towards this direction, Tadweer is the first company in the region to pioneer in waste management solution applications for producing alternative fuel and green products and also to support environment leadership.
Proud to organize this event once again, I experienced that the young members of SynergY have been successful in penetrating the message into the civil society by various environment actions that -We have to hold ourselves accountable for our actions, and only then are we going to contribute and build a sustainable Future We Want. I am glad that our work is noticed and recognized at various global platforms to gain a more sustainable society. As the Climate Leader and Ambassador from UAE for Climate Reality by Al Gore, the only student from UAE to be chosen Paryavaranmitra Leader for Change and representing the Global Youth Board of Plant-for-the-planet, I find youth participation imperative today.
Touring the facility, the youngsters got an opportunity to see the process of solid waste sorting and recycling, understanding the sorting process and end composting products. The demonstrations of how the composting process is conducted from the waste were very informative. This event also marks the testimony of Tadweer's mission that goes beyond the commercial purposes and aims at creating and establishing a quality environment through educational partnerships and leadership, increasing waste reduction, recycling and resource conservation. http://content.globalmarshallplan.org/ShowNews.asp?ID=5334 |
